INTRODUCTION
Ralph Yozzo's desire to serve on the Park Slope Food Coop Board of Directors stems from a commitment to the Coop's values and a willingness to contribute to its governance. He is dedicated to actively listening to the concerns and perspectives of member/owners, ensuring that these insights inform his decision-making and votes on the Board. Furthermore, his intention to serve a limited term suggests a dedication to fostering inclusivity and ensuring that diverse members have the opportunity to participate in the Coop's leadership. This approach reflects a desire to promote a rotating system that allows for broader community involvement and fresh perspectives within the Board.
GENERAL
Q:
What is the role of the Park Slope Food Coop Board Member?
A:
The board member should listen to the member/owners and use that to inform their vote.
Q:
How long do you wish to serve?
A:
To allow everyone to serve, I would only serve for the minimum term. This would allow others to serve and allow the board member to focus on the member/owners best interest rather than elections.
BACKGROUND
Q:
What background do you have that helps?
A:
I’ve served as a Community Education Council person appointed by Eric Adams. Observed much that needs transparency and oversight.
I’m serving as a political party county committee member for the dominant political party here in our wonderful borough of Brooklyn.
I welcome those that have an interest and wish to leave a better future to their heirs and their children to contact me at ralph@brooklynmarathon.com
Q:
How can we the general public help bring transparency to our government?
A:
We need to create an atmosphere of integrity and character. Democracy requires constant vigilance and therefore we need true budget transparency.
The current tools for our NYC budget transparency are inadequate at best and harmful at worst.
We need much better tools, we need one place to see all the budget transactions in a format that the common person can understand.
We need campaign finance disclosures to be in one place and sharable and easily summarized and sorted and filtered.
See https://prop.tidalforce.org/elections for an example of a sharable site that organizes all the available campaign finance information for the NYC and NY State databases in one place.
FUTURE
Q:
What can we do in the future?
A:
We can join together and understand the political processes here in our wonderful borough of Brooklyn. Contact me at ralph@brooklynmarathon.com
